Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 September 2026
These terms govern your use of the Nairobi Socials app and website. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Contact: djdonnaccia@gmail.com.
1. You must be 18 or older
Nairobi Socials is a nightlife service that covers venues serving alcohol. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. We will close accounts we believe belong to under-18s.
2. Your account
Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has it. You are responsible for what happens on your account. One person, one account — do not impersonate anyone else, and do not create accounts to get around a suspension.
3. What you post
You keep ownership of your reviews, photos and messages. By posting them you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, store and distribute them within the service, including in features like the weekend recap. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already shared with other users or retained in backups for a reasonable period.
Only post content you have the right to post. Do not post anything that is false, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or that reveals someone else's private information. Do not post photographs of other people who have not agreed to appear. Do not post paid or incentivised reviews, and do not review a venue you own, work for, or promote — disclose the relationship if you have one.
We may remove content, hide it, or suspend an account for breaching these rules. Review photos are held for approval before they appear publicly. Where we hide content we keep a record of the decision.
4. Reviews and ratings
Reviews are personal opinion, not statements of fact by us. A “was there” badge means our own records show a check-in, an RSVP, or a tracked visit — nothing more. We withhold an average rating until a place has at least three ratings. We do not blend our community's rating with any third party's.
5. Events, venues and tickets
Event listings come from public ticketing sites, from organisers, and from our own admins. We do not sell tickets and we are not a party to any ticket purchase. Line-ups, prices, times and venues change, and listings can be wrong or out of date. Check with the organiser or the ticket seller before you travel or pay for anything. We are not responsible for a cancelled, moved, oversold or misrepresented event, or for refunds.
Venue opening hours, categories and photos are best-effort. An absent opening time means nobody has verified it, not that a place is closed.
6. Cab fares are estimates, not quotes
Fare figures in the app are estimates produced by applying hand-maintained rate cards to a route. They are not quotes, they are not supplied or endorsed by any ride-hailing company, and they exclude surge pricing, tolls, waiting time and promotions. Larger-vehicle figures are rougher still and are labelled as such. The price you are charged is whatever your ride-hailing app charges you. Do not rely on our figure for anything that matters.
7. Bender Tracker is not a safety device
The Bender Tracker is an entertainment and self-awareness feature. It does not measure blood alcohol concentration, it cannot tell you whether you are intoxicated, and it must never be used to decide whether you are fit to drive, operate machinery, take medication, or do anything else where impairment matters. Its pace and hydration prompts are generic and are not medical advice. If you are worried about your drinking, speak to a doctor.
Do not use your phone while driving, and do not let any feature of this app distract you in a situation where your attention is needed.
8. Your own safety
Nairobi Socials helps you find places and plan a night. It does not vet venues, promoters, DJs, crews or other users, and it does not verify that anyone is who they say they are. Meeting people and going out carry real risk. Use your judgement, tell someone where you are going, and look after yourself and your friends. We are not responsible for what happens to you at a venue or with people you meet.
9. Location and check-ins
Check-ins require your real position and are refused if you are not close enough to the venue. Do not attempt to falsify a check-in, a presence report, or a location. Doing so may get your account suspended.
10. Acceptable use
Do not: attempt to access another user's account or our administrative interfaces; probe, scrape, overload or reverse-engineer the service; use automated tools against our API beyond normal app use; resell or redistribute our data; or use the service for anything unlawful.
11. Third-party services
The app links to and integrates with services we do not control — ticket sellers, ride-hailing apps, Spotify, YouTube, Google Maps, radio streams and social platforms. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you use them. We are not responsible for their content or availability.
Radio streams and recorded DJ sets are provided by their broadcasters and rights holders. We link to and embed them; we do not host or license them.
12. Availability
The service is provided as-is and as-available. It runs on modest self-hosted infrastructure, it will sometimes be down, and features may change or be withdrawn. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we do not guarantee that any particular listing, venue, stream or feature will still be there tomorrow.
13. Paid features
Some features may require a paid subscription. Where they do, the price, term and renewal will be stated clearly before you pay. Nothing in these terms obliges us to keep any paid feature running indefinitely; if we withdraw one, we will refund the unused portion of what you paid.
14. Ending it
You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or that we reasonably believe puts other users at risk. Where the situation allows, we will tell you why.
15. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data, or for anything arising from an event you attended, a ticket you bought, a ride you took, a person you met, or a decision you made using information in the app. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
16. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when. For material changes we will notify you in the app; continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept the new version.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute.
